- Listed in S&P Global’s DJSI World, DJSI Asia-Pacific, and DJSI Korea indices for four consecutive years since 2021

- The only Korean company in the “Interactive Media, Services & Home Entertainment” industry to be included in the DJSI World Index 

 

(December 17, 2024) Kakao (CEO Shina Chung) announced on the 17th that it has been included in the 2024 Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) World Index, published by S&P Global, for the fourth consecutive year. Since 2021, Kakao has also been listed in the DJSI Asia-Pacific Index and the DJSI Korea Index. 

 

The DJSI is a globally recognized index that evaluates corporate sustainability comprehensively, including environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors. The DJSI World Index selects the top 10% of companies in sustainability performance among the world’s top 2,500 by market capitalization. The DJSI Asia-Pacific Index includes the top 20% of the 600 largest companies in the region, while the DJSI Korea Index includes the top 30% of the 200 largest companies in South Korea. 

 

In the “Interactive Media, Services & Home Entertainment” sector, which encompasses leading online service providers, Kakao achieved the highest score. This achievement reflects Kakao’s efforts across various areas, including the following: Transparent Reporting, Materiality Assessments, Climate Change Strategy, Workplace Health and Safety, Board Independence, Customer Relationships, and Information Security. Kakao is the only Korean company in this sector to be included in the DJSI World Index.

Kakao has earned an integrated “A” grade for four consecutive years in the “2024 ESG Ratings and Assessments” published by the Korea Institute of Corporate Governance and Sustainability. The company also achieved the highest grade, “Leadership A,” in the environmental evaluation of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), acknowledging its proactive efforts to address climate change.
